The research methods and techniques dealt with in the research methodology covers both quantitative and qualitative approaches in scientific research. Quantitative methods aim to classify features, count them, and create statistical models to test hypotheses and explain observations. Qualitative methods aim for a complete, detailed description of observations, including the context of events and circumstances.
An experiment is a research method for investigating cause and effect under highly controlled conditions. When conducting an experiment, researchers will test a hypothesis and hypothesis is a statement of how two or more variables are related.
A survey is a research which target some population, which are the people who are the focus of research. Our aim is to connect students from campuses all over India by making them aware of Technical, Cultural, Management Fests, Workshops, Conferences, Seminars organized by each and every college in India. The need of the hour is to develop a sound methodological base of research among the budding educationists and researchers to cope up with future challenges. A good research methodology is a key to sound research output. Research is a scientific process and this definition holds true irrespective of disciplines. Although these fields focus on different aspects of human society and there are different perspectives in the area of study, they follow the same general methods for conducting research.
Keeping in perspective the need for to operationalize this vision, there is a need to train, reorient and reactivate the faculty members and research scholars in all the disciplines on research methodology. Keeping in perspective of the need for quality of research this one week five days workshop on research methodology is specially designed for faculty members and Research Scholars of all disciplines.

But, economic growth sans development causes more tension in the society widening the schism among various classes. Balanced sustainable development with egalitarian spirit is the new narrative in the development discourse.
Thinkers and theorists argue in favour of distributive justice, modernisation process, structural adjustment, human development, post-development so on and so forth. Each model or theory assures of a better quality of life with greater opportunities to fulfil individual aspirations to the maximum possible extent.
However, there is hardly any unanimity among scholars to adopt a model that is viable and feasible for policy makers. Based on such differences, there are divergent ideologies and schools of thought each claiming greater acceptability among the masses. Most of the western countries instead of bothering about straightjacketed ideological frameworks go for realistic policy planning and implementation.
Now, every development needs to pass through environment test as reckless industrialisation has brought more disaster to the mankind and has created more health hazards than ever before. But at cost? He nurtures an aspirational dream for a better quality of life for himself. He wants more freedom, demands more rights and needs greater privacy. For this, he expects better opportunities to be created for self-fulfilment. Today, youth is more informed, more capable and has varieties of opportunities before him.
At the same time, there is unemployment crisis, scope for government jobs shrinking, lack of adequate private sector jobs due to very few industries in the region. Many educated and ambitious youths prefer to go out of region as well as country in search of employment. This will affect seriously development and economic wellbeing of the region in years to come. Unless this trend is reversed, not only there will be brain drain but also the indigenity of socio-economic development will be hampered greatly.
This is a serious challenge for the public authorities in the region. States have talents but scarce opportunities, skill education institutions are there but no scope to utilise the skills of the pass-outs, local products are there but no facility to market them.
There is hardly any clear-cut public policy to deal with the situation. These trainings aim to enhance the capacity of the professionals in implementing and managing health programs and improve the provision of quality health care services.
Research Methodology Workshop Series
Apart from this, the trainings also enable the participants to develop and enhance skills in quantitative and qualitative research techniques, critically appraise existing research and foster development of strong analytical skills. The key strengths of our training programs are; skill based training modules, contents designed for multidisciplinary nature of the participants, short duration, high standards of teaching by in-house experienced faculty, affordable registration fee and efficient administration.
The principles of quality assurance are used for all training programs for continuous value-addition in the field. Several of such training programs customised to the identified needs of health professionals, clinical and public health researchers, program managers, and social scientists from academic institutes, NGOs and health systems across India and also outside the country have since been conducted at the institute.
From April to MarchIIPH-Delhi has successfully conducted 27 trainings and workshops in which national and international candidates participated. Hosting these academic events has been a rewarding experience with the aim of providing a boost to the public health sector of the country.
The training programs have been designed and aligned considering the needs of various stakeholders. Some of these trainings and workshops have received support and funds from both national and international organizations. Since its inception in November until MarchIIPH-Delhi has successfully delivered trainings and workshops, enhancing the skills and capacity of participants. E-mail: trainings iiphd. One of our core areas is in building capacity in social science research by offering training programmes and workshops on a variety of topics. Social Science : an area of research and practice that has evolved rapidly since the late s out of a concern with the adequacy of existing methods in dealing with challenges in the health care scenario. The gradual recognition of the fact that the social and behavioural sciences together with the physical, biological and health sciences are essential for unravelling the complexity of human health, has led to the acceptance of health social science as integral to understanding and solving health problems.
Epidemiology : the study of health-event patterns in a society. It is the cornerstone method of public health research, and helps inform evidence-based medicine for identifying risk factors for disease and determining optimal treatment approaches to clinical practice and for preventive medicine. This approach basically aims to enhance deeper understanding and knowledge on a certain issue or phenomenon of interest, in the process, enabling the researcher to gain a more holistic or contextualized understanding of the problem or issue at hand.
Questionnaire Development : the act of measurement is an essential component of scientific research. Researchers in the health social sciences are frequently faced with the need to measure something which has not been approached previously, or which does not have an existing gold standard against which to compare the new measure with.
Understanding the issues and complexities involved in designing questionnaires will enable the development of robust measures that are both reliable and valid. In order to run efficiently with maximum impact, programs in the development and health sector require structured monitoring and evaluation plans, the use of strong indicators and data sources, and the application of appropriate data collection and analysis methods. D students with a medical or social science background, NGOs working in the health and development sector and any other interested professional wanting to undertake health related research would benefit from participating in this workshop.
The number of participants for the workshop is restricted to Each participant will be provided with course material which will include the power point presentation of the speakers, adequate reading material and practical exercises.
Lunch and beverages for the duration of the workshop will also be provided.
